That's odd, you'd think therapists would recognize the response. I mean, it makes sense; I just personally hadn't thought too many rape victims "froze up." Wouldn't this make it quite difficult to prove in a court case? I would imagine that without physical evidence or any witnesses, you'd be hard pressed to get a conviction. Although most of the time the law enforcement takes the victim's word for it, establishing guilt in court is another matter...

New light Watchtower magazine leaked from organization weeks ahead of general release
by cedars inhttp://jwsurvey.org/governing-body-2/new-light-watchtower-magazine-leaked-from-organization-weeks-ahead-of-general-release.
if doctrinal explanations are missing from the article, it is because they are also missing from the magazine.. i would like to give my thanks again to my source for supplying me with the magazine article weeks ahead of its scheduled release.
it showed remarkable courage, because risks were taken.

Amazing job Cedars
I wonder if any light bulbs will even go off when we study this article...probably not, most won't even see much difference in the change of doctrine. Sad and pathetic. This "adjustment" is needed and we'll mostl likely see much more in the following years, as the WTS has to eventually slowly sever the ties to its error-ridden beginnings.
Very well written and outlined, thank you very much for posting. Your connection also deserves much thanks.

Wow..
I'm sorry that happened to you Lady Lee (as well as any other men or women that have been raped/abused). I found your post about the "third response" quite informative.

New member says hey
by jay dubless ini have lurked now and then, just decided to join.. my older brother and i were raised by our jw mom, but our dad was a non-practicing catholic.
so we went to the hall, but were considered "weak" witnesses, since our family still celebrated xmas and birthdays, to appease my dad i suppose.
as a kid, i loved these holidays.. anyways, when my brother was 17 (i was 13), he spent a few weeks with our cousins in ky, who are all gung-ho j-dubs, and upon his return, he decided he was going to be more "theocratic".

The Nerve of Denial
by braincleaned ini thought the page on the official jw site "are you an american sect?
" is quite disturbing.
the borg really has no problem lying thru their teeth!".

They have a pretty warped view of reality, as anyone on this board already knows..
Most of their beliefs ARE created by some men in the U.S. Sure, they do not have any one leader anymore but the GB/FDS replaces this.
WT Authority Hierarchy: GB/FDS > God/Jesus/Bible > any other secular arguments/evidence

Do You Believe In ANYTHING That The Witnesses Taught At This Point In Your Life?
by minimus infor example, they pride themselves in what they don't believe such as immortal souls, the trinity, hellfire, etc.. some exjws still believe it is the "truth" and support the basics.. .

I believe in the common sense, "good" values and virtues one should keep, although I don't believe in them because they are/were given by any god. Being honest and treating others with respect tends to almost always turn out to everyone's benefit and it's something I try to live by despite being and agnostic atheist. I still truly believe most R&F JW's are good people at heart that have been misled.
I can't say I agree with any of the defining core beliefs anymore however.
@Julia Orwell: I found your post quite interesting, as I don't recall ever encountering a former atheist who has turned Christian

Ricky Gervais on atheism & some ideas we can relate to
by alecholmesthedetective ini found this article really interesting because of the similar thoughts ricky expresses i could relate to and think are good food for thought irrespect of what you believe at the present time.
http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/12/19/a-holiday-message-from-ricky-gervais-why-im-an-atheist/.
for example.... people who believe in god dont need proof of his existence, and they certainly dont want evidence to the contrary.
